Ceramic Ferrules for Unthreaded Weld Studs and Shear Connectors (Type UF as per ISO13918)

Type UF ceramic ferrules are normally used for type SD, UD and ID drawn arc weld studs and shear connectors.

Ceramic Ferrule is a necessary part for shear connector stud welding process.It is designed to achieve the following functions:
◇ Protection of the weld pool by creation of metal vapour in the burning chamber at sufficient current intensity;
◇ Concentration and stabilization of the arc, thus reducing arc blow;
◇ Moulding of the displaced weld pool to a weld collar and supporting of the weld pool.
Furthermore, it shields the operator from both arc and spatter. The ceramic ferrule is used for one weld only and is removed once the molten metal has solidified.
Ceramic ferrules with high precision size and low water absorption rate, can significant improve the welding result.
